Ahead of the curve: three approaches to mass digitisation of vials with a focus on label data capture

This article proposes a set of efficient methods for digitizing liquid-preserved specimens stored in jars and vials. In one of the setups, they modify existing methods of capturing images from multiple angles by using mirrors and a single camera. These setups allow the reconstruction of a label in post-processing. This method aims to simplify data extraction from labels without requiring the removal of the specimens from the vials. The article details the workflow by steps and also talks about the hardware and software used to achieve these setups.
