CaptuRING: A do-it-yourself tool for wood sample digitization

In this article, the authors propose an alternative to flatbed scanners for imaging wood samples. They developed custom software and hardware to facilitate digitization using digital photography instead of a scanner. This method aims to solve issues of custom length of the samples and the heterogeneous surface that some samples have, which would make a scanning method difficult to perform.
